KET will begin mass production of CWDM modules

KET (Chang-Won Lee, CEO, http://www.ket.com) announced on the 8th that it will go into the mass production of CWDM modules beginning from June.

KET will first manufacture 4-channel CWDM modules used mainly for access networks for optical communications, and then begin manufacturing 8-channel products late this year.
Won-Joon Lee, a director at KET says, ¡°We will be more competitive than our competitors since we are able to manufacture filters, micro-optic components, and jumper cords and carry out the packaging process using our own technology.¡±

KET expects to record up to 3 to 5 billion won in sales with 1000 CWDM modules. The company has set its sales goal at above 10 billion won for next year. In 2002 and 2003, when it is expected that CWDM modules will be used for IMT 2000 base stations, the sales volume is expected to be even greater.

Director Lee added, ¡°Our top priority for now is to increase the sales of mobile communications components such as VCO and TCXO and optical components to above 10 billion won each. We expect to sell around 500 thousand VCOs and 300 thousand TCXOs per month beginning from the end of this year.¡±
